A handcrafted hat created from Japanese obi, reimagining a traditional textile as a contemporary form.
Each obi carries its own composition of color, pattern, texture, and time. The section selected for each piece determines how the textile appears in its new form, making every hat unique.
Rather than preserving the obi only as something from the past, the work allows it to move into another time and another relationship with the person who wears it.
Each piece is individually handcrafted in Japan.
